Teeth that are not in proper alignment are not only unattractive, but this misalignment can also lead to improper forces and stresses on the teeth and jaw. This additional stress can cause fractures and grinding as well as not being able to properly clean the teeth.

Invisalign aligners are custom made clear trays that gently and gradually move your teeth to a more ideal position.

The Invisalign procedure

Examination and analysis

Once Dr Juliane and her team believe Invisalign would work for you, the first step is a full dental examination and analysis of your bite using the Invisalign digital scanning system. With this information, the system creates precise 3D images of the patient’s teeth.

Using these images, we will then plot out the movement required. The Invisalign system allows the dentist to preview with the patient exactly how his or her teeth will progress through the entire treatment.

This information is then digitally sent to the Invisalign office in the UK. The company takes the data and creates acrylic aligner trays.

Wearing your Invisalign

When your aligners arrive back with us, it’s time for your next appointment. We will explain how to use the aligners, along with care instructions and other pertinent information.

We’ll give you the first few pairs of aligner trays and you head home. All you do is wear the aligner trays for 20-22 hours every day for two weeks.

Those trays put subtle pressure on your teeth, moving them without the pain that accompanies the tightening of wires with traditional braces.

Ongoing monitoring

After two weeks, you discard those trays and switch to the next pair. At about six-week intervals, you’ll come back to see us so we can monitor your progress and give you the next series of aligners.

Invisalign FAQs

Adults and teens suffering from common orthodontic problems may be candidates for Invisalign. The aligners are clear making Invisalign a great option for teens and adults who are concerned about their appearance when wearing braces.

Invisalign offers a nearly invisible solution to straightening teeth.

Invisalign handles mild to moderate tooth movement needs without using traditional tooth brackets and wires. The most important thing for most teens is that, as the name implies, the Invisalign trays are basically invisible.

When they’re on your teeth, no one can tell, even from close range when speaking to someone. No metal bands. No wires. It’s easy to forget you’re wearing the clear Invisalign aligners because they are so comfortable.

And Invisalign is simply easy. It’s easy to eat normally as you just take them out. It’s easy to keep them clean too as you can easily remove them to brush with toothpaste.

And it’s easy to maintain oral hygiene. Just take out the trays and brush and floss normally.

The bottom line is that our Sorriso Design patients love Invisalign. Plus, the time required to move their teeth is usually less than with traditional metal braces.

Invisalign treats many different types of orthodontic cases from simple misaligned teeth to more complex cases including crowding, gappy smiles, deep bite, and open bite.

After taking a series of photographs and digital impressions, we work with Invisalign to develop the best plan for your specific case as well as an estimate of your time commitment. A series of trays are then custom made which will help to move your teeth to the desired position.

These trays are to be worn on average 22-23 hours per day for optimal results.
